False sense of security?
My newfound paranoia over being burglarized has resulted in an irrational purchase of an ADT security system. I wanted it all: motion detectors, window and door sensors, and a full-time network of security agents just itching to dispatch San Francisco’s finest. I’m still debating on strapping up with a Glock 19 9mm, but I figured this would temporarily suffice. As I am sitting here watching ADT agent 0948302 install my equipment, I’m feeling more and more secure.
My former self (pre-being effed in the A by some petty criminal whores) would say that alarm systems are a false sense of security. Similar to seat belts on airplanes; they are a mere illusion of safety and security. It’s amazing that a little PTSD and a mound of paranoia can drastically change one’s view of reality. All I know is that I will not be sitting at my desk from 9-5 wondering if today was the last day I will ever see my Foreman grill.
