The scariest team in NBA history!

February 25, 2010 Kyle 3 comments

I came across this article (Seriously, read it!) by ESPN’s Gene Wojciechowski earlier this morning.  At first, I brushed it off as something that would never happen.  However, before I was finished reading, I realized that it COULD actually happen.  Three of the top NBA players could actually come together to form one of the scariest teams in NBA history.  Gene contends, very simply, that all three of them are already insanely wealthy.  ”How rich is LeBron James? Put it this way: When God needs some walking-around money, he borrows it from LBJ.”  He’s right!  These guys have ridiculous amounts of money.

But…

What they don’t have is much assurance or hope for multiple championship trophies.  King James and Chris Bosh could theoretically never win a championship.  Dwyane Wade (Shaq) may have already got his, but do you really think he’s happy with just one?  Why don’t these guys sacrifice the god-like payday and come together to form an unstoppable empire?  I’d hate to see it happen on account of my Mavericks, but I’d certainly watch every game.  How freaking incredible would that be?

C’mon Mark Cuban, maybe you can make this happen…

Rush Limbaugh

rushRush Limbaugh confirmed last week that he and St. Louis Blues owner Dave Checketts are interested in buying the amazing St. Louis Rams (0-5).  Rush made quite a splash in the NFL during his time with ESPN by saying that Donovan McNabb was overrated due to the color of his skin.  It is primarily for that reason that his decision to buy the team is being met with such fierce opposition.  Al Sharpton is the most recent “high profile” public figure to express outrage over the news.  Various NFL players and members of the NFLPA have also voiced their concern.  Even the soft-spoken, politically correct Jason Whitlock has expressed his opinion.

I’ll admit that I am not the biggest fan of Rush Limbaugh for various reasons.  I am not even sure that he would know the first thing about running a professional football team.  Furthermore, the Rams have no chance of saving face this season.  They are bad.  A new ownership probably won’t help balance the ”win” side of the standings.  Nevertheless, I don’t see why the man should be banned from owning a team for the comments he made in the past.  He may be a loudmouth bastard, but so are many other team owners.  I certainly don’t condone racism, but is he really the first racist figure to enter the league?  Give me a break.  Besides, I just can’t see him becoming a racist figure of tyranny and oppression under Roger Goodell’s reign.  Roger would destroy Rush in such a circumstance.

Maybe a new ownership will do this team some good.  They are so bad right now.

Is this guy serious?

Kobe Bryant has his share of fans. Fans who love to love him. Fans who love to hate him. Personally, I love basketball and I think Kobe is an amazing player. I don’t really judge his character. I can only imagine that TrueHoop’s Henry Abbott has some deep-rooted issues with Bryant. Why else would he have put his career on the line with this garbage?

What a complete, miserable idiot!

Truly appreciating “His Airness”

MJThis is a great article by Chris Broussard (ESPN The Magazine) about the impossible task of becoming the next Michael Jordan. To sum it up: NO ONE can or ever will.

I miss MJ so much…

Air standards seem out of reach
